Mark McElrathFounder and Director
Mark McElrath earned a master's degree in sport management from Slippery Rock University (2002) and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a Public Relations minor from Westminster College, Pennsylvania (1995). Mark founded McElrath Sport Management Group in 2012 as a means to add structure and formalization to existing sport management projects for which he was active as a consultant or practitioner.
Mark has worked for sport properties, companies and charities - the three primary sectors that McElrath Sport Management Group represents and aligns together. Corporate sponsorship and event management have been among Mark's cornerstone responsibilities, while volunteer leadership and board development is another supplementary area of interest, experience and expertise.
Mark took an interest to corporate sponsorship at an early age, and that was the focus of his master's thesis: "An assessment of successful sponsorship mechanisms as perceived by corporate sponsors of NCAA Division I athletic departments."
Mark has established a niche with corporate golf tournaments having managed projects that have netted over $2.5 million for charitable partners, in the process providing appearance opportunities for athletes, and a powerful business and charitable platform for participating executives and their companies.
Mark served as a marketing intern in 2000 for Duke University Athletics during which time he helped with planning and executing the 2000 men's and women's national outdoor track & field championships. He managed events in 2003 on the Arby's national golf tour, and toured in 2004 with the FUTURE's Golf Tour, the LPGA's developmental tour then went to work for well known charities' American Cancer Society and Make-A-Wish Foundation before founding McElrath Sport Management Group in 2012.
Regardless of project and scope, Mark's focus and philosophy centers around building meaningful, sustainable partnerships and mutually beneficial relationships!
